Alice Arbury / Textiles MA

This is a collection of digital surface patterns designed for soft furnishings within the home.

With mental health becoming more widely acknowledged and understood, this collection aims to combat these issues by helping to promote happiness and well-being. Colour theory was the main focal point within this project, with in-depth exploration to establish a carefully selected colour palette to increase positivity. Sustainability was a secondary interest with the hope that these will be made with maintainable materials, enabling the consumer to have a clear conscience when making significant decisions that affects themselves and also the environment. Inspiration has been drawn from multiple areas, such as local architecture, geometry, and painter, Bridget Riley.

The collection includes hand-drawn elements, collage and painted pieces which are then digitally manipulated to create a wide range of designs that come together to create a harmonised compilation of surface patterns.
