Sequential Design / Illustration MA

Students on the MA Sequential Design/Illustration and MA Arts & Design by Independent Project courses are taught together in one programme of study. Graduates this year have investigated a vast range of subjects including climate change warnings through repeated pattern, implicit racial bias using animated posters, objects representing life stories through photographic studies and the connection between memory and our possessions in the form of graphic novels.

Many of these works began with personal responses to subjects later developed into rigorous research projects using visual storytelling to reflect the greater human experience.

Our 2020 graduates have produced their work in difficult circumstances responding to the restrictions placed on them in inventive and positive ways. The work on display features a impressive range of outcomes including illustration, photography, writing, animation, graphic novels, comics, installations, interactive works and books — a testament to our belief that a subject can be explored and communicated through many different mediums, processes and platforms.
