Fine Art MA

Fine Art MA

Thinking like an artist has never been more important than now. Creativity, collaboration and making the most of limited resources are fundamental to the practice of any artist, however the challenges posed during the previous months have tested this to the extreme. Looking at the work produced by this cohort of MA Fine Art students during this period it is clear they have been more than up to the challenge.

The MA Fine artists this year have demonstrated sensitivity and insight and their work is the product of sustained enquiry, rigorous peer dialogue and ambition. Their work covers a broad range of subjects including re-imagining space and materials, giving voice to the voiceless, noticing the small things, improvising, provoking debate and testing assumptions.

Our students join the course from a variety of backgrounds and geographical locations. They work alongside and support each other to challenge and expand their practices and the research that underpins it. Their commitment to peer and audience engagement during the course has propelled their work forward and this is despite the challenging circumstances of the global pandemic. I feel confident that our MA Fine Art students will be equipped to adapt and flourish in the next step of their journey by thinking like an artist.
