I am interested in the implicit, ingrained and invisible structures of society and how they affect people, activities and sub-cultures within contemporary society. There are many structures operating within society, often these are accepted without question, for example gender differences.
My practice is looking at a couple of aspects of society in particular:
Consumerism and the way that images are understood within societies, and the way that we receive and process information, particularly visual information.
My work focuses on how images can be subverted by using collage to disrupt the assumed meanings and relationships.
My practice is based on quick, instinctive making, I am looking for the energy that comes from making ‘in the moment’.
Currently I am working with digital collage, using physical and digital ‘found’ images and text from various sources.
